Day 1 - Dublin to Plain City

Sunday April 1, the official launch of the Ohio Credit Unions Marching Miles for Miracle Kids occurred at the Columbus Children's Hospital "Close to Home" urgent care facility in Dublin, Ohio. We had miracle kids, Hayden & Harlie; puppies, Larry, Bender, Jet and Bessie; and, many distinguished Credit Union people, young and old.
The festivities were started by a warm introduction by Alison Hudson, Assistant Director of Annual Giving for Columbus Children's Hospital, followed by a very moving story shared by Judy Andrews, President/CEO of State Transportation Employees Credit Union about her and her family's personal experience with Columbus Children's Hospital. This story about Judy's grandchildren and our guests Hayden and Harlie was the very inspiration needed to launch a very worthy event. Bill Butler and Carl Fauver followed with thanks for all participants. Pat McGrady, retired CEO of Toledo Area Community Credit Union and John Florian, Chief Operating Officer of the Ohio Credit Union League shared some thoughts to provide further context of the meaning of the effort.
The gray skies began to give way to the sun and the "Marchers" officially began their "March" to Cincinnati . Dave Cottone led the way with an awesome display of athleticism while the pre-seniors, Al Reis, Sandy McCormick, Dianne Easterday, Bob Crane and Bill Butler followed close behind. The RV piloted by Jaime Crooks was greatly appreciated for the pre-seniors and seniors who traversed the highways and byways of Central Ohio .
The "Marchers" were warmly welcome in the late afternoon by Tom Furrey and Jeff Shorr of Western Credit Union. At the Western Credit Union in Plain City Ohio the "Marchers" were treated to Gatorade, hot dogs and hamburgers.
Special congrats to those marchers that marched the whole 12+ miles!
