Day 19 - Rainbow Babies Children's Hospital to Cleveland Convention Center
Photos coming soon.
The final leg of the march began bright and early at 7:00am at the atrium inside Rainbows Babies and Children's Hospital. We were treated to a continental breakfast by Marilyn McGrath and her staff at Rainbows.
We had 15 marchers present which were led by our indomitable leader, Bill Butler. We were met at Rainbows by the Reid family. Jordan Reid is a forth grade school student who was diagnosed with a form of leukemia, was treated at Rainbows, and was just recently declared cancer free by her doctor. She and her family (Calvin-Father, Sabrina-Mother, and Tommye
Stoudermire- Grandmother) shared with us stories of her treatments at Rainbows as well her recent birthday party that also doubled as her official "Off-Chemo" party. Not a better present could have been received!!
Jordan could not march with us to Zenith as she had a book report to present to her classmates later in the morning, but she was with us in spirit.
We set off from Rainbows promptly at 8:00am to crisp, clear and sunny skies and marched into the convention center just in time. We were greeted on the stage by the rousing beats of The Bluecoats, a drumline and percussion youth group. They really pumped up the convention and put a jolt in our step as we marched up on the stage for the official check presentation. The check presentation netted $80,000 for the entire Children's Miracle Network Hospitals in the State of Ohio. Congratulations and a big thank you to all who helped make this happen.
