Day 18 - Maple Heights to Cleveland

Today's march started w/ wind, snow, sleet, and rain -yuck! And I think that it scared off a number of our marchers as we did have some no shows. So we delayed the start for about 20 minutes and it was a good call as shortly thereafter the "liquid sunshine" stopped and the umbrellas and ponchos were quickly jettisoned. After that, the day became progressively better weather wise and by the end of the march we were bathed in total sunshine and 60 degrees. We had 4 marchers today and we made very good time thru the eastern suburbs of Cleveland . No dog today but I think we could have used her as we temporarily lost our path through the Shaker Lakes neighborhood of Shaker Heights . I think we were too busy gawking at all the beautiful mansions along the way and took a wrong turn. But we quickly got back on trail with thanks to the maps in the RV.
Just as we were walking to the front door of Rainbows Babies and Children's Hospital from the south, our fearless leader Bill Butler was approaching from the north after just exiting a bus from downtown Cleveland. What timing! We honestly did not plan this, it all came together perfectly. Marilyn McGrath and her staff from Rainbows Babies and Children's Hospitals greeted us at the front doors w/ refreshments and much thanks. It felt really good.
After we left Rainbows, we had to take Bill around the corner to Cleveland 's "Little Italy" and we got some canolis from Corbo's bakery. Yum!! You know, when in Rome ...
