Day 12 - Dayton to Dowtown Dayton
Day 12, April 12th, was a spectacular event. Barb Courter, CEO of St. Helen's FCU, rallied several individuals together to prepare a wonderful send-off for today's marchers.
After Barb's few words of welcome, we heard some positive credit union words from Riverside City Councilman, Bill Flaute. Bill was followed by Bill Butler, Ohio HealthCare FCU; John Florian, Ohio Credit Union League; Debbie Butner, Dayton Children's Medical Center; and
Drew, Mindy, Alex & Eric Hilgeford, Chidren's Medical Center advocates. It was such a warm welcome and reinforced the importance and value of this Marching for Miles event.
It was a bitter, windy day as 10 individuals set out for the 11 mile march. Due to the excessive rain over the past few days, our marchers had to do a bit of extra work as they dodged the flooded portions of our route.
Thanks to the following credit union staff, board, and members for carrying the "torch" to the next location:
Brad Rice
Barb Courter
Cathy Courter
Laura Crouse
Jacob Reinhart
Kyndra Ball
Danielle Deramo
Kristina Hurlburt
Jaime Crooks (RV Driver)
Chris Gardner (RV Navigator)
And, we had to conclude with some RV maintenance, as many marchers value the RV's mobile bathroom. The day ended with laughs and cringes as 4 marketing directors managed to successfully empty their first RV tanks. Yep, it's the "extra duties as assigned"!
